Why don't you give guests any permissions to view posts? It's hard to gauge if they want to register or not if they can't see what's on the forum.

I believe one of the reasons for not allowing guests to view threads is that by having guests able to read everything it means they could find out all of our tips and tricks that we give out to members and therefore there wouldn't be any need for anyone to sign up. By forcing guests to sign up to view things like tutorial and tips it means that the forums has people registering.

Not letting guests see posts hurts your forum's SEO due to the fact that bots are counted as guests. Allowing guests to view your forum's topics brings in more visitors because your site will be further indexed by the search engines. Wink

I'm doing something different with this soon. I'll be making it so that guests are able to view either 5 threads per day, or they'll be able to view a thread for 10 seconds before it changes. Still figuring things out.

It's irritating for me to log on just to read a topic.

I sign in if I want to post.
